  • Clothing donation box fire ruled arson

  • The PA State Police Fire Marshal Unit at Dunmore asked for public assistance regarding a fire in a clothing donation bin Sunday night, March 16. This was along Route 6 in front of the Bubble Bank Laundromat, in Palmyra Township (Wayne).

  •  The PA State Police Fire Marshal Unit  at Dunmore asked for public assistance regarding a fire in a clothing donation bin Sunday night, March 16. This was along Route 6 in front of the Bubble Bank Laundromat, in Palmyra Township (Wayne).
       Hawley Fire Department was called out at 7:15 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire and returned to station at 7:49 p.m. Hawley engine and tanker were at the scene along with Hawley Ambulance. Hawley Fire Chief Scott Mead was in charge.
       State Police sad an unknown person started the fire, which is being listed as an act of criminal mischief as well as arson. Damage was estimated at $900. The clothing bin belongs to USAgain in Wilkes-Barre.
       Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police Fire Marshal Unit at 570-963-4323 or State Police Honesdale at 570-253-7126.
       Early that day, Hawley Fire Department also was summoned to an automatic alarm at the Laundromat at 612 Church St., Hawley. They were dispatched at 6:18 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters checked the building and found nothing and returned to station at 6:42 a.m. Deputy Chief Gene Krause was in charge.
