  • HAWLEY - It’s never too early or too late to learn about financial literacy. The Hawley Public Library is partnering with Wells Fargo Bank to provide two financial workshops through the bank’s Hands OnBanking: Money Skills You Need for Life program.
The workshops will be presented April 16 and 17 by Lynn Graham, Manager of the Lake Region Branch, Route 6, next to Hawley.
The Hands On Banking program provides the essentials of financial education, real-world skills, and knowledge everyone can use, including how to: identify needs vs wants; use tools, such as a spending plan, to make the most of your money; learn more about paying for higher education; and creating a financial future through saving, investing and building wealth. The following programs will be offered:
    • Financial Literacy for Children: The program is for school aged children and is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16 at 4 p.m. Kids will find out where money comes from and how banks can help. They will learn how a budget can help them plan for things they want to buy, get to know how bank account works, learn how to write a check and use an ATM card.
    • Identity Theft and Fraud: The program is for adults and is scheduled for Thursday, April 17 at 1 p.m. Banking identity theft is one of consumers’ biggest fears especially when it comes to online banking and purchasing. Learn how identity theft works and what you can do to protect yourself from it and other scams.
For further information or to register for a program please call the library at 570-226-4620 or stop by at 103 Main Ave., Hawley.
