LAKEVILLE - Sculpted Ice Works and Antler Ridge Winery present: Spring Thaw Ice & Wine Festival, Saturday, April 12 in Lakeville.
The public is invited, for the first Spring themed wine festival featuring six of Pennsylvania's wineries together in one location. The event is the perfect way to thaw out from winter and bloom into spring. There will be a professional ice carving competition happening, while people can taste local wines that will be served off of signature ice bars.
Folks can walk through The Sculpted Ice Works Factory Tour and Ice Harvest Museum, where they can learn how ice was used before refrigeration and travel through time and see how crystal clear ice blocks are made now, and turned into ice sculptures.
There will be BBQ with vendors selling local cheeses, maple syrup, crafts, candles and
much more. When people think of wine tasting, many might not think of Pennsylvania, but what many do not know is that Pennsylvania grows over 1,400 acres of grapes yearly and is the home of over 120 wineries.
Pennsylvania is ranked fourth nationally in the amount of grapes grown each year, and ranks eighth for the amount of wine produced each year as well.
Spring Thaw Ice & Wine Festival will feature Antler Ridge Winery, Maiolatesi Wine Cellars, Nimble Hill Winery, Paradocx Winery, Pickering Winery and Grovedale Winery. Each winery produces its own award winning varieties of wine.
The event is from 12 to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 in advance, $25 at the door and designated driver tickets are $10 admission. Advance tickets are available at all wineries and Sculpted Ice Works. Admission includes wine tasting, souvenir wine glass, all entertainment and Factory Tour and Ice Harvest Museum.
