  • PIKE COUNTY -  The Pike County Chamber of Commerce will be continuing their Third Thursday Breakfast Seminar Series on Thursday, May 8 with the topic of “Unemployment Compensation Separation Issues.”
The Pike County Chamber, the Pike County Workforce Development Agency and the PA Department of Labor & Industry are working together on a seminar series of business topics throughout the year and unemployment compensation was one of the most asked about issues.
This important business seminar will explain the process the UC Service Center follows when investigating and issuing determinations relating to quits and discharges including:  explaining the fact-finding process, how the UC Service Center rules without fact-finding information from a party, what factors determine if a separation is a “quit” or a “discharge”, what determines “burden of proof”, how certain exceptions under the Federal Trade Readjustment Act are factored into determinations and what additional steps are available if there is a disagreement with the determination.
"We all know how there are times the UC program seems confusing, so be sure to bring any questions or concerns you have," said Chamber officials. "We hope this seminar, along with a chance to hear issues other employers are experiencing, can help your business better understand the UC program."
Held at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing in Matamoras, the program begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast ready at 7:15 a.m.
The cost is $15.00 per person for Pike Chamber members and $20.00 per person for non-members and you must RSVP to reserve your space by calling 570-296-8700 or e-mail info@pikechamber.com  no later than May 6th.
