WALLENPAUPACK - On Tuesday April 15th, Eric Linde, President and owner of Leeward Construction, Inc. provided the opportunity for three Wallenpaupack students to job shadow with him.
Linde met Walker Day, Paul Kossack and Josh Schuman at the Wallenpaupack High School. He generously provided them with construction vests and personalized hard hats. Afterward, he transported them to Leeward’s various sites: the asphalt plant, a bridge project, their welding shop, and Leeward Construction paint and mechanical building.
The students spoke with the heavy equipment operators and were permitted to operate an excavator and a hydraulic jack hammer. They also learned about the training and experience they would need to work in the construction field. Before returning to the high school, Linde treated the three students to lunch, and the students appreciated the unexpected generosity.
Career Coordinator Colleen Edwards commented, “It is great for our students to see that they have job opportunities in our community. That Mr. Linde took the time personally to show these young men what was available to them as Building Trades students is significant.”
