HAWLEY - The Rotary Club of Hawley awarded its 2014 “Outstanding Business of the Year” to Paupack Plumbing and Heating and its 2014 “Outstanding Organization of the Year” to the Hawley Public Library. This designation is awarded yearly to a business and organization in the Hawley Rotary Club service area that best meets the Rotary standards of community service.
President and Past District Governor Thomas Visgilio presented the business award to Chris Strong, owner of Paupack Plumbing and Heating at the regular club meeting on Thursday, April 24, held at the Hotel Belvidere.
In his presentation of the award, Visgilio mentioned that Paupack Plumbing & Heating was selected for its continuous support for the community and for the Hawley Rotary Club supporting the “winter woolies” project and by sponsorship of the annual reverse raffle.  He applauded the business for living up to Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”
Visgilio presented the organization award to Maura Rottmund, Director of the Hawley Library.  In his presentation of the award, Visgilio stated that the library was selected for its outstanding effort to support and build a sense of community in Hawley. It performs valuable public service daily and certainly lives up to Rotary’s motto.
In addition to Rottmund the library was represented by Board members, Margot Clauss, Dona Schmalzle, Sue George, Mary Ann Teeter and library employee Deb Corcoran.
Both award winners expressed their thanks to Hawley Rotary for being recognized.  The Rotary Club of Hawley meets each Thursday at 6 p.m., normally at The Settlers Inn.
