STATE COLLEGE - On May 15, 2014, James Hutchison of Honesdale was accepted into the Schreyer Honors College of Pennsylvania State University. As a Schreyer student, Hutchison will be responsible for completing numerous honors classes in addition to authoring a thesis.
    “I’m thrilled to matriculate in the honors college and learn alongside talented students and faculty,” the twenty-year-old said. “I’m also profoundly grateful for my advisors who assisted me in reaching this goal.”
Founded in 1980, the Schreyer Honors College aims to promote achieving academic excellence with integrity, building a global perspective, and creating opportunities for civic engagement and leadership. Enrollment in the honors college is limited to 1,800 pupils in a campus of 40,000.
Hutchison graduated from Honesdale High School in 2011 with honors and is entering his senior year at Penn State. In the Spring 2014 semester, he earned a 4.0 g.p.a. in eighteen credits. Hutchison plans to earn dual degrees in Political Science and Communication Arts and Sciences before applying to law school.
