LACKAWAXEN TWP. - The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a concert by Elvis Presley tribute artist Shawn Klush on Sunday afternoon, September 7, in the Woodloch Pines nightclub.

Born and raised in Pittston, Klush’s love for music led him to begin imitating his musical idol, Elvis Presley. Klush was named the “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist” by Elvis Presley Enterprises when he competed in Memphis against contestants from throughout the world. He also was named, “The World’s Greatest Elvis,” in the British Broadcasting Company’s worldwide search for the greatest Elvis tribute artist.

Each January, Klush stars in the “Elvis Birthday Tribute Tour,” with Elvis’ own musicians, singers and friends in multiple cities. He recently sold out a 15-city tour of Australia and had record-breaking performances in the U.S., Switzerland, Canada, the United Kingdom and South America. In 2013, Klush was a featured performer on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Concert Chair Katy Wood said the auxiliary chose Shawn Klush for this year’s concert after she and several other members saw him perform. “We were quite impressed with the show he put on,” she said.

Klush will perform at Woodloch from 4 to 6 p.m. A cocktail hour will be held prior to the concert from 3 to 4 p.m. featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Wayne Memorial Hospital, anon-profit community hospital that serves patients in Wayne and Pike counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania and Sullivan County, New York.

About the auxiliary

The 230-member Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary furthers public relations, provides volunteer service within the Wayne Memorial Health System and raises funds for the enhancement of healthcare.

The auxiliary recently presented a check for $95,000 to the hospital representing its fund-raising efforts for its 2013-14 fiscal year. It was the largest amount ever donated by the organization in a single year.
