  • LAKE REGION -  Get set for another spectacular Independence Day fireworks display over Lake Wallenpaupack on Friday, July 4. The rain date is July 5th.
The display is fired near the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack, next to the Wallenpaupack Area High School, and will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.  Parking will be available in the High School parking lots, and the bleachers will be open to spectators at approximately 7 p.m.  Viewing the fireworks will still be available at the dike and by boat from the Lake, as well.
Please note: This year new traffic patterns near the display will be in place to ease congestion thus encouraging safer travel, said Debbie Gillette, Executive Director, Pocono Lake Region Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber hosts the fireworks, made possible entirely through donations and sponsorship.
Bold Gold Media’s Classic Hits 105.3 is set to broadcast patriotic music before, during, and after the entire event, from the High School lot. You also have the option to tune in on your boat or car radio as well as your smart phone or online.
A “Sponsor Thank You Billboard” will feature co-sponsors and partners following the event through August 1st.
Lake Wallenpaupack has become known for its fireworks display.
"After years of dedicated interest and financial commitment from area businesses owners and residents, the Lake Region of the Pocono Mountains can proudly boast one of the best fireworks displays in the area," said Gillette. "Drawing thousands to our lake region restaurants, merchants, marinas, campgrounds and lodgings, the fireworks have become an important part of our lake culture."
The Chamber thanks all businesses and residents who have donated in the past.  Lighthouse Harbor Marina has again pledged their support to ensure this family tradition continues.  As a major sponsor, this is the 20th year Lighthouse Harbor Marina has contributed. To date other sponsors including Sterling Marina, Eastern Propane and the Nicholson Family, Lake Region IGA, and Woodloch Resort/The Boat House Restaurant have also pledged their major support.
Donations are needed for the 2014 display and the Chamber urges all area residents to support the fireworks as well. This support adds up and is vital to our fundraising efforts.  If you enjoy the fireworks, they ask you to please do your part and donate as well.  Please make checks payable to the PLR Chamber, and send to 2512 Route 6, Suite 2, Hawley PA 18428.
For more information about the fireworks and sponsorship levels, contact The Chamber at 570-226-3191 or email visit@lakeregioncc.com.
