WESTFALL TWP. - On Thursday June 5, at Delaware Valley High School, Rep. Rosemary Brown (R-189th) presented Felix Valentin, a senior from Dingmans Ferry, with a House citation honoring his efforts in successfully saving the life of an area woman.
The teenager conducted the Heimlich maneuver when she began choking in a restaurant in Matamoras.
Felix was trained in CPR as part of his physical education class at Delaware Valley High School, and had just completed a refresher course the very day he implemented the life-saving practice. He sprang into action when the woman began choking, performing the Heimlich maneuver, which saved her life.
"His selfless, quick response in that life-threatening situation reflects highly upon his character and dedication to his fellow citizens," Brown said.
June 1-7 was National CPR and AED Awareness Week, and Brown encouraged citizens of all ages to get trained in these life-saving practices.
"It takes a lot of courage and quick thinking to act as Felix did," the legislator said.
She further congratulated Delaware Valley School District for including CPR training into its curriculum, which she noted, helped Felix act so courageously.
