HAWLEY - Jeff Sidle of Hawley, owner of The Print Shop of Milford and an avid photographer, has had one of his pictures selected for a highway billboard.
His picture shows Milford Borough as seen from the knob overlooking the valley. The billboard was selected by Discover Pike PA and is adorning two locations in the Lehigh Valley and southeastern Pennsylvania.
He said he saw on Facebook that they were soliciting photos taken from the knob in Milford.
"I had taken a hike up there a couple of years ago in the fall and had a few shots so I replied to the request," Sidle said, "I sent them all the relevant files and after several weeks was asked to send the high resolution files for two of them for consideration."
One is on the PA Turnpike I-276 visible to east bound traffic between Willow Grove (US-611; exit 343) and Philadelphia. The other is on Rt. 22 at the Lehigh River Bridge visible to East bound traffic.
The images are 14 feet by 48 feet.
"I don't think I will ever have one of my photos printed any larger than this," Sidle said.
The Discover Pike PA billboard is part of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau 2014 Summer Co-op Adverting Campaign. Discover Pike PA is an initiative of the Pike County Hotel Tax Board. They also publish a printed visitor's guide and map.
Their website is www.DiscoverPikePA.com and are also on Facebook.
The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau is also represented on the billboard.
