WAYNE COUNTY - On Friday, May 23rd, 21 Wayne County Drug Task Force officers, six Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board officers, four Pennsylvania State Police Troopers, and four Wayne County Probation officers conducted a saturation patrol in the southern part of Wayne County.

The purpose of the saturation patrol was to create as many motorist contacts as possible while looking for signs of intoxicated drivers and/or drugs.

The saturation patrol began at the Lehigh Township Police Department in Gouldsboro and continued into the following areas: Lehigh Township, Newfoundland, Sterling, Hamlin, Lake Ariel, and Hawley to which several officers were assigned.

During the course of the saturation patrol numerous traffic stops were made resulting in three drug paraphernalia charges (two marijuana and one heroin) and three DUIs (two alcohol and one heroin), and multiple traffic citations were issued.
The Liquor Control Board officers performed checks of several area bars and issued one underage drinking citation, one administrative citation for sales to a minor, one furnishing alcohol to a minor citation, and four loudspeaker violations.

The Pennsylvania State Police K-9 unit also assisted the Wayne County Drug Task Force and performed three searches which resulted in arrests.
