HAWLEY - The Wayne County Builders Association (WCBA) announced June 4 that Executive Officer, Laurie Lourie, has resigned from her position.

Lourie began her career with WCBA over 21 years ago in a part-time role and was later promoted to the full-time position. In 1993, Lourie’s first year with the builders, the association’s membership totaled 38. As of May 2014, Wayne County proudly serves over 170 members.

“I am very sad to leave Wayne County Builders. This association is a big part of the community and of my life. It’s my family,” says Lourie. “Although I will miss my friends in Wayne County dearly, I am looking forward to a new opportunity.” Lourie has accepted a position as the Executive Vice President of the York Builders Association.

During her time at WCBA, Lourie spearheaded a community outreach program which brings together the association’s members and residents of Wayne County through enriching charity projects. This program was recognized with a statewide award for their development of the Playhouse Raffle in 2013, a charitable fundraiser that raised $19,700 for the Make-a-Wish® program. Five children enrolled in the Make-a-Wish® program and currently living with life-threatening illnesses were granted their wishes through the funds raised by the WCBA.

“It has been my privilege and honor as President to have worked with Laurie. Over the past 24 years, she has grown our association into one of the most successful associations in the state,” said Maria Coutts, President of the Wayne County Builders Association. “She has always put the members first while fulfilling our goals and vision.”

Last year, Lourie’s dedication to WCBA was honored nationally with the Association Excellence Award: Small Office Executive Officer from the National Association of Home Builders. Lourie will continue to be active with the state and national associations including her position with the Pennsylvania Builders Association as the Vice President of the Executive Officers Council and the Chair of the Education Task Force Committee.

At this time, Wayne County is hiring for the position of Executive Officer. Strong written and verbal communication skills, association management and QuickBooks experienced preferred.
