HAWLEY- A few young girls who have a shared interest in the American Girl Doll series, spent the last week enjoying activities with some new and old friends during Lackawanna College Lake Region Center's first ever “American Girl camp.”
Each day about 10 girls attended the three-hour camp, that was based at the Lake Region campus in the Hawley Silk Mill. Enrollment Specialist Jen Passenti said the idea for the camp came about so people could learn that the college offers more then just academics.
The campers were first through fourth grade students from Wallenpaupack South Elementary School and the North Primary School. Since this was the college's first camp and was a success, Passenti said next year the camp will go longer and possibly be a few more hours.
Everyday the campers completed a craft, played with their dolls whether by dressing them up or having tea parties and since each doll looks at different cultures, the campers learned about the doll's history.
