HONESDALE - Fiddlin’ Around is the next in a season of 14 concerts in Honesdale’s Central Park presented by the Wayne County Creative Arts Council (WCCAC). Hear them on Thursday, June 26th at 7:30 p.m.
The Thursday evening concert on June 26th features a well known group to local audiences. Fiddlin’ Around, a small group of musicians from the Old Time Fiddlers, was formed in 1992 by fiddler Steve Jacobi. The group performs arrangements of traditional fiddle tuned throughout Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Steve is featured on fiddle, Craig Gehrig on guitar, Dale Teeple on piano and Jay Brooks on acoustic bass and cello.
In an effort to preserve many types of traditional music, Fiddlin’ Around performs a wide variety of styles including Irish, Scottish, Appalachian, bluegrass, New England, Canadian and western swing. The group also performs newer compositions that fit within the realm of traditional music.
Fiddlin’ Around has released two CDs; “At Home with Friends” and “Elizabeth Creek.”
Bring a chair or blanket, grab a snack at the food concession and sit back and enjoy the music. In case of rain the venue will be change to the Episcopal Parish Hall adjacent to the Park. All of the WCCAC summer concert events are free. (A free-will offering will be collected.)
