WAYMART - On Sunday, July 13 at 12 noon, Salem Mountain Farm, 540 Robinson Road, Waymart, will host a free farm tour for the public.
Salem Mountain Farm is a diversified vegetable farm, specializing in garlic, brassicas, greens and root vegetables, with a small production of intensively managed beef cattle, pigs, chickens, and egg-laying hens. They make their own compost and use sustainable practices, often beyond organic. They can be found selling at the Hawley Farmers Market on Friday afternoons and the Wayne County Farmers Market in Honesdale on Saturday mornings.
The tour of Salem Mountain Farm will begin at the former dairy barn and include visiting the composting operation. Followed by a hayride tour around the farm to see the animals, and a walking tour of the vegetable gardens.
Brian and Sam Fox Jr. practice sustainable farming methods and are members of the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture.
