DELAWARE TWP. - Delaware Township announced that with a few modifications, its website is now "smart phone and tablet friendly." It has also become the first township in Pennsylvania to have a fully responsive website.
The updates responds to both direct user feedback and the township’s website analytics, which indicated that mobile and tablets site visits accounted for more than half of total visits, influencing the rollout of a responsive design.
“As our residents and industry place more and more emphasis and mobile consumption, the updates will allow us to provide legible content across all platforms,” said Tom Ryan, Delaware Township Supervisor. “We’re proud to be among the first townships to offer a customized, responsive website.”
With its responsive website design, the site's information and layout automatically adjust to the screen width of the device the user accesses it with, whether it be a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. With nearly 60 percent of American adults owning a smartphone and over 40 percent owning a tablet, Ryan stressed the importance of equipping the site with a responsive format to improve the experience for users who access the Internet on a mobile device.

“Last month, smart phone users and tablet users couldn’t view the entire website in an easy to read format since it is made for a larger screen,” he said.  “Our residents wanted a mobile optimized website. They needed complete access to information on the go.”
Working collaboratively with Niki Jones Agency, the newly upgraded site was designed to improve the     experience of Delaware Township’s online visitors. Whether a user is searching for information regarding the area’s parks and recreational events, viewing the Township’s monthly calendar, or accessing and review minutes from public department meetings, the new format offers prospective and current residents an attractive, easy-to-use experience.
