HAMLIN - Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) announces the appointment of board certified family physician David A. Wood, DO, FAAFP to its staff.  Dr. Wood has been practicing at WMCHC’s Hamlin Family Health Center, located at 543 Easton Turnpike on Route 191 since the beginning of July.
            “We are very pleased to have Dr. Wood as part of our team in Hamlin,” stated Frederick Jackson, executive director of WMCHC. “His past experience as the medical director of a center similar to ours has afforded him the opportunity to practice in both routine office and urgent care settings.”
            Dr. Wood earned a medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency through the Wyoming Valley Family Practice Program.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.  Prior to completing his medical degree, Dr. Wood worked as a pharmacist in the Hamlin and Honesdale areas.  He is also a veteran of the US Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Major.
Dr. Wood most recently held the position of Medical Director of the Sullivan County Medical Center, Laporte, PA.  As a native of Dickson City, he is pleased to be “coming back to his roots to be with     family.”
      The Hamlin Family Health Center offers primary care by appointment or walk-in for urgent care needs as well as women’s health services by appointment only.  Outpatient services including laboratory, X-ray and ultrasound are also provided on site by Wayne Memorial Hospital.
