  • PALMYRA TWP. (Pike) - Wallenpaupack Historical Society’s Paupack School Committee will hold its second Town Hall Meeting about the future of the Paupack School, Wednesday, August 20.
All are welcome to attend the 7 p.m. meeting, to be held at the Palmyra Township (Pike) Municipal Building off Gumbletown Road.
There will be discussion on the cost of the needed repairs for the school and how the school, once repaired, would be best utilized as a meeting place and community center for Palmyra Township, Pike County. The intention of the Society is to enable the restoration of the Paupack School to its former glory as the social center and meeting place of the community.
A letter to each householder in the Township is being sent to make all residents aware of this effort and to determine the support or lack of support within the township.  Residents will be asked to pledge money for the project as well.
At the meeting , the grant-writing opportunities available to this type of project will be reviewed.  The possible uses suggested at the first meeting will be discussed and action plans developed that will explore some of these possibilities.  Survey results will be discussed as they become available.
At an early meeting in September, the group will tour the school building on Route 507 to see first-hand the work that needs to be done.  This date will be announced at a later date.  Preliminary costs will be examined after engineering estimates have been received.
