HONESDALE - Five outstanding local students received scholarships this summer to help defray the cost of their higher education studies in the field of nursing.
The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary helped choose the recipients for the Ernest and Margaret Lemnitzer Memorial Scholarship and four Victoria T. Robinson scholarships. Jessica Langone, Honesdale High School (HHS) class of 2014, was awarded $11,672 from the Lemnitzer fund. She will attend Misericordia University this fall.
The Robinson recipients each received $1,250: Jamie Bodie and Veronica Warshaw, both HHS graduates, and two Delaware Valley High School graduates, Leah O’Brien and Sarah Adelfio. Leah and Veronica head to Misericordia to complete their studies, while Sarah will be enrolled at Wilkes University and Jamie at Penn State.
