WAYNE & PIKE COUNTIES - The Pocono Lake Region 13.1 is scheduled for Sunday, September 28th. This Half Marathon event is hosted by The Chamber of the Northern Poconos and co-chaired by chamber board members Christie Kennedy-Augustine and Bob Kiesendahl.
      The marathon route will begin at the Lakeside Elementary School near Honesdale and the finish line is at the Wallenpaupack Area High School track. The registration for this event is open to anyone 16 years and older. The entry fee is $55 through August 31, $65 from September 1 – 15, and $70 from September 16 – 27.
      "A personalized race bib isn’t guaranteed if registration occurs after September 12 so register today," advised Chamber officials.

  "There are many ways to get involved, and many volunteers are needed in order to make this a success.  Spirited volunteers cheering for and motivating the runners is imperative," Chamber officials said.
  They also encourage people residing along the route to show their enthusiasm for Wayne County and cheer and encourage the runners.  "How can this be done?  Have music playing, shout encouragement, hold or post signs, if it is a hot day mist the runners down with a hose – these are just a few ways to get involved," Chamber officials said. Groups and organizations are also encouraged to set up along the route to cheer on the runners.  Please contact The Chamber office for information on where you could be positioned. 
   There will be a meeting for those interested in volunteering on September16th at 6:30 p.m. at the Wallenpaupack Area High School Library.  Please call 570-226-3191 if you can attend.

    A portion of the proceeds of the half marathon will be donated to dedicated local fire police and EMS to whom the Chamber continues to rely on.  "Their assistance is imperative to a successful outcome of this event<" said officials.
