  • MILFORD- William Tardella of Milford pleaded guilty Thursday, Aug. 28 to 300 counts of possession of child pornography. Because of the plea, he will skip a trial and move on to sentencing, likely in October.
Tardella was arrested March 4 after investigators discovered his computer contained more than 300,000 sexual images and videos of children, the state Attorney General's Office said.
He spent a day in Pike County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail, and then made bail and was released on March 5.
During sentencing, Tardella admitted that he had 15 videos that were being used at peer to peer file sharing websites, and an additional 150 videos. The videos depicted nudity and children under the age of 13 engaging in sex.
Tardella told arresting officers that he preferred 13- to 20-year-old girls, but also admitted viewing videos of children as young as toddlers, according to the Attorney General's Office.
Tardella was one of five men arrested as part of an investigation by state police at Blooming Grove and the state police Northeast Computer Crime Task Force. The others four men were from Westmoreland, Franklin and Northumberland counties.
There was a recommendation to sentence Tardella, to a concurrent sentence, meaning he would serve all sentences at the same time. With a consecutive sentence, in which each count gets a sentence and it is served one after another, Tardella could be sentenced to more than 1,000 years in prison. Judge Joseph Kameen will sentence him in October.
