HONESDALE –For the second consecutive year, Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) has been placed on the Immunization Action Coalition’s (IAC) Influenza Vaccination Honor Roll.
In order to be accepted for inclusion, a healthcare organization is required to have a minimum of 90 percent of its staff inoculated as well as an IAC appro    ved staff immunization policy in place which includes a patient safety accountability piece.
Kendra Waters, LPN, wellness and clinical care coordinator for WMCHC, explained that as the number of WMCHC offices has grown the responsibility of administering vaccines to staff has been delegated to a team of 11 Flu Captains made up of RNs, LPNs and medical assistants from across the organization.
“We wouldn’t have the vaccination program in place that we do today if it weren’t for the team work,” she said praising the dedication of the captains as well as cooperation from the WMCHC workforce of nearly 190 individuals.
The IAC, a non-profit organization commitment to increasing immunizations rates across the country, has worked in concert with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for more than a decade.
