Due to the death of long-time Paupack Township Supervisor Thomas A. Danilovitz on March 28, the Township has been busy filling the many seats that Danilovitz’s had on several municipal agencies and community organizations.
During Thursday evening’s monthly business meeting, the board appointed Paupack resident David Cottell to fill Danilovitz’s seat on the Planning Commission. The term is for four years.
Litter Crews
Supervisor Bruce Chandler, along with other Board members, said that a Litter Control Program is beginning in Paupack Township. An idea in it’s infancy stage, Chandler said he would like to see the Township’s Program run just like the State’s, by having certain sections of Township roadways cleaned by businesses or families twice a year.
“You would adopt a road, or a portion of it,” said Chandler. “If any one is interested please call the Township Municipal Building at 226-3155.”
Lacawac
The Board received a request from Lacawac Sanctuary, Lake Ariel, for assistance on a plan that the Sanctuary is in the process of preparing.
The letter seeks committee members for guidance in preparation of a Master Site Plan through the Community Conservation Partnership Program.
After a short discussion, Supervisor Thomas Oakley was nominated and accepted the offer to join the committee.
In other business, the Board:
• Approved a Lot Combination at Sandy Shore for Maneval;
• Tabled a Lot Combination in Paupack Estates for Grabon;
• Granted approved for Jim Martin to begin writing a grant to obtain money to build a new salt shed;
• Set June 7, 9 am to 12 noon for the Townships Spring Clean-up at the Municipal Building;
• Announce that the Paupack/Lakeville Food Pantry will be held on May 28 from 11 am to 2 pm; and
• All three Supervisors received Certificates of Completion for an Open Records Seminar and Gravel Road Maintenance Practices Workshop.
The Paupack Township Board of Supervisors meet on the second Thursday of each month, 7:30 pm at the Municipal Building in Lakeville. The next business meeting is scheduled for June 12.
