A woman, who wondered away from a beached boat on Lake Wallenpaupack died of accident drowning, according to the Wayne County Coroner’s office.

Holly Ann Steffens-Cox, 28, was reported missing at 10:30 am, Monday morning and was last seen between June 28, 11 pm and 2:30 am, Monday morning, June 29, according to PA State Trooper T.L. Walker. Wayne County Coroner Carol Leinert issued the ruling on her death late Wednesday afternoon.

The body of the mother of two was found in about 23 feet of water just off Wangum Cove Boat Launch Tuesday afternoon.

State police and local volunteer fire and dive and result teams searched the area around the boat launch in Paupack Township at 9:30 am Tuesday morning. Police said the search was made based on information received through an investigation.

Her body was recovered at 1 pm from the lake by the dive team. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner.

Steffens reportedly wandered off a boat which was beached just west of the boat launch at PPL Environmental Center Boat in Palmyra (P) Township.
