The Eighth Annual Chili/Wing Cook Off presented by the Hawley-Lake Wallenpaupack Chamber of Commerce is set to take place on Sunday, Jan. 31.

If you think libraries are just about books — think again. During Winterfest, the Hawley Public Library, 103 Main Ave., is alive with a mixed bag of activities for all ages. The fun starts at 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 12, and continues all day.

The Pike County Historical Society will hold their annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 6,  from 3-5 pm.

For the fifth consecutive year, local artist Barbara Briden and Peter Daniel, proprietor and creator of custom frames at Artisan Picture Framing and Art Gallery, have collaborated to create paintings of various Hawley scenes which have been raffled off to benefit the community.

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month people gathered at Veterans Memorial in Carlton Drake Memorial Park in Newfoundland to pay their respects and honor both the fallen and still standing soldiers that make this country what it is today, and with the flag flying at half staff, it was a somber reminder of the sacrifices many men and women have made to keep our freedom.
