HAWLEY - The Baptists in Hawley have restored the former name of their church.Known as Cole Memorial Baptist Church since almost anyone can remember, the sign outside the church building at 711 Church Street was changed this past week to 1st Baptist Church of Hawley.Pastor John May said that for many years, the former name was a source of contention for many. They didn’t feel it was right to honor a mortal man in the name of their church, rather than Jesus Christ.
