The historic town of Milford unveils plans to celebrate the upcoming patriotic holiday in grand style from 12 noon to 5 pm on Saturday, July 4.
There will be costumed characters in front of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce welcoming people into town. The celebrations will begin at the Library at 11:30 am with Bagpipes and an opening ceremony.
The Declaration of Independence will be read by the American Readers Theatre, the VFW Honor Guard will present the American Flag and the local Boy Scout Troop will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Pike County Chamber of Commerce Board President, Susan Hines will welcome all to Milford and the National Anthem will be sung by local resident, Morgane Fouse.
For the remainder of the afternoon, entertainment events for all ages will be spread out at various locations throughout the downtown area. Macaroni the Clown will be at The Artisan Exchange, The Adventures of Christopher Otter and the Milford Performing Arts Dancers and will perform at the Old Lumberyard. The Columns Museum and other locations will be the stage for additional dancing by the Dance Center of Port Jervis, the Delaware Dancers and Dance Connections. The Deanery Choir will be singing patriotic songs at the Library.
In addition, there will also be a showing of antique cars, the Corvette Club and a Motorcycle Show throughout the town. Children can also enjoy face painting at the Firefly Toy Shop. The local businesses and restaurants will be in the red-white-blue theme and music will fill the town.
