Milford, Pa. -

MIlford rolled back into the 1860s during its Lincoln Celebration April 11-13.

Jim Hunt from Albany, NY, a member of the 123rd New York Regiment, was among the reenactors camped out on the lawn of the Columns Museum for the weekend which concluded with a Lincoln Funeral procession.

Saturday Hunt set up a table to display the items a Civil War soldier or officer would have carried with him. He  described the items to visitors such as Jennifer Smetana, Dingmans Ferry, and her children Natalie, 11, and Christopher, nine. Smetana said she and the children were looking forward to the Lincoln Celebration events in Milford.

Among the items were a tooth brush, pistol, rifile, a reprint of a Dime Novel, his pipe, tobacco and a sack of coffee. There was also a rain blanket often used by the soldiers when they couldn't set up their tents.

Hunt said he enjoyed doing the reenactments. He said people learned more from hands on history. He and his wife travel to encampments. He added some members of the groups get their whole families involved.

Four different groups were present at the Milford encampment.
