Many merchants of the area have joined with the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the Lake Region to “Paint the Lake Region Purple!”
On the weekend of May 2, 3 and 4, there will be purple bows, ribbons and balloons decorating stores and signs reading “Relay For Life — The Power of Purple” from one end of the Lake to the other and throughout Hawley. Members of Relay teams will be doing fund-raising at some of the businesses.
“We are so happy to be sharing with the community the spirit of Relay For Life,” said Emily Scholl, Relay For Life of the Lake Region chairman. “We are truly appreciative of the support of all the merchants throughout the Lake Region.”
The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is a 24-hour event to celebrate survivorship and raise funds for cancer research, education, advocacy and service programs. The 2008 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the Lake Region presented by The Dime Bank will be at the Wallenpaupack Area High School Stadium, Route 6, Hawley, on Saturday, May 31, through Sunday, June 1, from 10 am to 10 am.
The Relay For Life brings together teams from local businesses, schools, churches, and families for camaraderie, food, fun, music, entertainment, a night under the stars — all while team members take turns walking or running on the track.
