Hawley, Pa. -

Children ages 3-5 are invited to explore the world of birds during this second program in the “Nature Tales” series from 10-11 am, Thursday, June 26, at PPL’s Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center.

Katie Gill, PPL naturalist, will begin the program with a reading of a book on birds and then talk about common birds found in your own backyard and how to feed them. Participants will have the chance to make a bird feeder to take home.

Space is very limited for this free program. Registration is required. For more information, registration and directions, contact PPL at 570-251-6196 or pplpreserves@pplweb.com.

The Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center is part of PPL’s Wallenpaupack hydroelectric project, built in 1926 near Hawley. The learning center is off Route 6 just east of the intersection of Routes 590 and 6 and next to Wallenpaupack Area High School.

The learning center offers programs and workshops to teachers, students and the public on the environment, conservation and the lake.

PPL is hosting the program as part of PPL Project Earth, an initiative to educate people about energy resources and the environment. For more information about PPL’s environmental preserves, visit www.pplpreserves.com
