MILFORD - The Pike County Commissioners have requested the Milford Borough Police to charge any individual found on the Mott Street Bridge with trespass.
Moreover, the Commissioners will commence a civil action for property damage against anyone who willfully damages the protective barrier erected to prevent unlawful access to the bridge.
The Commissioners state that they have taken this measure to protect County property and to prevent the public from going on the bridge due to its unsafe condition.
The bridge spanning the Sawkill Creek has been closed to pedestrians since 2007. Built in 1903, the iron truss bridge was used for vehicles until 1990. In deteriorating condition, the County is in the midst of planning reconstruction, utilizing a federal grant. The project is expected to start in 2017.
