HAWLEY - The theatrical Sandy Gabrielson will weave yarns of myth and lore at the annual Storytelling Dinner at The Settlers Inn on Saturday, October 29. The cost is $65 per person for an evening of traditional storytelling, harvest season dinner, and an illuminated patch of intricately hand-carved pumpkins. Gathering time is 6 p.m.; dinner is at 6:30 p.m.
For many years, storyteller Sandy Gabrielson has been a featured performer at Hawley’s Ritz Company Playhouse. Added highlights of the Storytelling Dinner will be live foot-stompin' music by Bowin’ the Strings, and the mesmerizing display of the best artfully carved pumpkins and gourds in all of Northeastern PA.
The spectacular seasonal menu for the evening will include local mulled cider and spicy nuts during the gathering time, followed by a family-style first course of parmesan and yukon "tots" with figs and creamy sundried tomato vinaigrette; a last of the season Mountain Dell Farms teen lettuce salad with pickled root vegetables and balsamic vinaigrette; and Leraysville cheddar phyllo bites with Tait Farms apple pepper sauce jalapeno, bacon, and roasted sweet potato mac and cheese.
The entrée is a choice of grilled sweet garlic marinated flank steak over brava potatoes, pan seared mahi mahi over pumpkin and poblano hash with avocado puree, crispy chicken roulade with parsnip puree and golden raisin chutney, or portobello mushrooms stuffed with pecan and root vegetable compote and syrah drizzle.
The family-style dessert features The Settlers Inn classic toffee pudding, pumpkin crème brûlée, and chocolate roulade with hazelnut cream.
