HAWLEY - USMC Reserve Toys for Tots of Wayne and Pike County has announced the donation of space that will be used to sort, store and distribute toys donated to the organization this Christmas season.
Once again, the Genzlinger family and Lackawanna College have agreed to donate space in the Hawley Silk Mill rent free. In addition, the Toys for Tots program will not be charged any utility costs while occupying the space.
The Genzlingers are the principal partners in the Hawley Silk Mill LLC; Lackawanna College, which operates a satellite branch on the third floor, leases space  in another section of the building where the Toys for Tots will operate.
USMC Reserve Toys for Tots Wayne and Pike County Coordinator, Shari Tirado, said, “We are thrilled that Lackawanna College has allowed us to stay in the same location as last year, it is extremely difficult to find a space of this size, that allows us to expand as donations come in, along with a staff that is beyond accommodating to us. For several years we searched for a location that would allow us to stay year after year, and we are hoping that this could end up being our forever home! We are so fortunate to have a local family like the Genzlingers in our community who care about our less fortunate children and are willing to step up to help us make sure that they can experience the joy and wonder that is Christmas. We are truly elated and grateful for their and Lackawanna College’s support again this season.”
Toys for Tots of Wayne and Pike County served over 3000 children in last year’s campaign and are expecting this year’s need to be more. They have 120 donation boxes throughout Wayne and Pike County to locate a box in your area, please visit honesdale-pa.toysfortots.org, if you would like to become a collection point, donate or register please go to honesdale-pa.toysfortots.org or call Shari Tirado (570) 253-0711.
