To the Editor:

Many of you may have noticed the beautiful new dirt baseball field in Bingham Park. This was made possible by many hours of volunteer work and thousands of dollars of privately donated funds from the Wallenpaupack Little League and the Pike County Bar Association.

Some residents have already used this attractive field for other activities including riding ATVs and dirt bikes. Please understand that such actions will quickly degrade the field’s ability to be used for baseball, which is especially sad in that while all teams are welcome to use it, the field was primarily constructed to accommodate our local Challenger baseball team for special needs children in an effort to make it safer and easier for those with mobility and other physical challenges to participate in these activities.

So please, avoid using the dirt field for anything other than baseball and softball. Our children, especially those with special needs, will thank you.
