GREENE TWP.  - A 56-year old man from Effort, PA, was killed as a result of a motorcycle crash, Thursday morning, April 13. PA State Police, Blooming Grove said the accident was on Route 390 in Greene Township.

Police did not release the victim’s name.

The crash happened at 7:45 a.m. as the 1988 Harley Davidson was traveling south on 390 near Bear View Road. A deer entered the lane of travel. Although the operator attempted to avoid the animal, he was unable to do so and struck the deer. The motorcycle then tipped onto its right side where it began to slide.
It slid onto the dirt shoulder and went over onto its left side.

The operator was wearing a motorcycle helmet, Trooper Edward Sparrow said.

Promised Land Fire Department, Newfoundland Ambulance, Commonwealth Health, F.D.R. Towing and the Pike County Coroner assisted the State Police on scene.
