HAWLEY - The air is heavy with anticipation at the Hawley Silk Mill as the days wind down to the Grand Opening of the new Mill Market Bakery. Earlier this week new bakery equipment was delivered, installed and is now humming along with delectable items filling the shelves of the new bakery. Officially opening on May 13th at 10 a.m. the Mill Market crew is expecting a crowd.

“There has been a lot of interest in the bakery over the last few months. People have been stopping by to see the changes, ask about new items and mark the grand opening on their calendars” said Julia Kent, Executive Pastry Chef of the Mill Market Bakery & Settlers Hospitality.

They’re marking their calendars for good and delicious reasons. Julia will have samples available including artisanal breads, sticky buns, cannolis, cookies, homemade pretzels, and an array of products to purchase. Julia is the Executive Pastry Chef for Settlers Hospitality which provides baked goods for The Settlers Inn, Glass-wine.bar.kitchen, The Dock on Wallenpaupack and Cocoon Coffeehouse.  

The Mill Market Bakery will be the retail part of the business located on the first floor of the Hawley Silk Mill, selling artisanal breads, pastries, specialty foods, cakes and more.
The actual bakery will be housed on the ground floor of the Hawley Silk Mill, adjacent to the Boiler Room. This new kitchen will be outfitted with misting bread ovens, mixers, and other equipment to properly create artisanal breads and pastries. Stop by the Grand Opening to tour this facility which will not normally be open to the public. Press tours are available upon request.
