MILFORD - Starting on May 28 and every Sunday until October 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the environmental non-profit Air Soil Water will again host the Milford Farmers Market. This will be their 4th annual market, this year in a new location – The Columns Museum, 608 Broad Street in Milford. The Columns is a significant cornerstone of Milford and home of the Pike County Historical Society.
The Milford Farmers Market will have local vendors from the tri-state area, live music and educational programs for all ages. The market has a specific goal of keeping local food and sustainable agriculture in the forefront of public consciousness. The market drives home the point that people can demand better food, better health, a better local economy and a more responsible use of land and resources. All of this makes Milford a destination where the farmers market complements great dining, shopping and outdoor recreation.
Each vendor was selected and vetted by the Air Soil Water team and will include an elaborate assortment of produce, meats, breads, bakery goods, jams, personal products…and more. All fresh, hand picked, home made, nothing industrial. Offerings will change as the weeks go following the natural growing season for fresh food.
“We are thrilled at the continuous support for our beloved market said Jolie DeFeis of Air Soil Water. The Columns Museum’s Director, Lori Strelecki embraced us with open arms. It is truly an honor to be part of one of the most historic and significant places in Milford. We have similar missions of serving the community through engagement and education.
The Milford Farmers Market has proven to be a weekly destination for locals and tourists. From a business standpoint, it would be the continuation of our mission of keeping dollars in the local economy and drawing people to the area - the epitome of keeping it local.”
The 2017 Milford Farmers Market kicks off Memorial Day Weekend, running every Sunday rain or shine May 28th – October 15th. Any vendor wishing to participate should send an email to email@example.com as soon as possible with all of the specifics of what you grow/make, location of farm, ingredients, how it’s prepared and any additional information. If approved, you will be sent an application for 2017 season.

About The Columns Museum:
The Columns Museum is a local history museum housed in a 1904 neo-classical manse, once the summer home of Jersey City businessman extraordinaire, Dennis McLaughlin. The museum features an eclectic collection of artifacts and objects which exemplify the people places and things that make up Pike County's rich and diverse history. In addition, the museum is the proud holder of the Lincoln Flag - a 36 star flag which was displayed in Ford's Theater the night of President Lincoln's assassination, and stained with our 16th President's blood.
The Columns is also home to the Pike County Historical Society. Formed in 1930 with Gifford Pinchot as their honorary President, the Society houses a local history and genealogy archives and library which boasts a fine collection of deeds, documents, journals, periodicals and photographs pertinent to the history of Pike.
The museum is open for tours Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m, with additional hours in July and August or by appointment. Call 570-296-8126 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
