LAKE REGION - Get ready for another spectacular Independence Day fireworks display over Lake Wallenpaupack on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. The summer tradition is hosted by the Chamber of the Northern Poconos.

Lake Wallenpaupack has become known for its annual fireworks display.

One of the best

“After years of dedicated interest and financial commitment from area business owners and residents, the Lake Region of the Pocono Mountains can proudly boast that this is one of the best fireworks displays in the area,” said Debbie Gillette, Chamber Executive Director.

She said that the fireworks draw thousands to the lake region restaurants, merchants, marinas, campgrounds and lodgings, and have become an important part of our lake culture.

This display is fired near the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack, at Wallenpaupack Area High School, and will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.  Parking will be available in the High School parking lots, and the bleachers will be open to spectators at approximately 7 p.m.

Viewing the fireworks will still be available at the dike and by boat on the Lake, as well. Please note! Specific traffic patterns near the display will be in place to ease congestion thus encouraging safer travel.

Bold Gold Media’s Classic Hits 105.3 is set to broadcast patriotic music before, during, and after the entire event, from the Wallenpaupack Area High School lot. You also have the option to tune in on your boat or car radio as well as your smart phone or online.

The rain date is July 5.

Sponsors, donors needed

Gillette noted that Wallenpaupack Fireworks are made possible entirely through donations and sponsorship.

“The Chamber thanks all businesses and residents who have donated in the past,” she said.

Lighthouse Harbor Marina has again pledged their support to ensure this family tradition continues.  As a major sponsor, this is the 23rd year Lighthouse Harbor Marina has contributed. Other major sponsors to date include Lake Region IGA, Bold Gold Media Group, and Encore Outdoor LLC.

“Donations are needed for the 2017 display and we urge all area residents to support the fireworks as well,” Gillette said. “This support adds up and is vital to our fundraising efforts. If you enjoy the fireworks, we ask you to please do your part and donate as well.”

Please make checks payable to The Chamber, and send to 2512 Route 6, Suite 2, Hawley PA 18428.
