HAWLEY - The September 2016 through June 2017 Students of the Month were treated to a luncheon in the Wallenpaupack Area High School Lakeside Café on May 11, 2017. To honor the students many Hawley Rotarians were present in addition to several Wallenpaupack Area High School Guidance staff members and a Wallenpaupack Area High School administrator.
The April, May and June students are highlighted here.Jamie Brunette, daughter of Lori Ann and Frank Brunette , Lackawaxen, is the April Hawley Rotary Student of the Month. Jamie has been an active volunteer with the Honesdale Food Pantry since 2015. In school, Jamie has participated with many of the Volunteer In Paupack (VIP) activities. Last year, she served as the club Secretary and this school year she is the club President. She has also participated in many Student Council, Friends of Rachel, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Foreign Language club and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) activities. In addition, Jamie is the founder of the Wallenpaupack Mini - Thon which took place this past winter. Jaime has also been a member of the Wallenpaupack National Honor Society (NHS)throughout high school. In the fall, Jamie plans on attending Penn State University to major in Pre – Medicine and then continue to medical school. The May Student of the Month is Rebecca Rosikiewicz, daughter of Christine and Edward Rosikiewicz, Lackawaxen. Rebecca has volunteered many hours in her community assisting with several festivals and the annual September 11th ceremony. Rebecca has been active with Volunteers in Paupack (VIP) since middle school. She earned a varsity letter as a member of the Wallenpaupack Area High School Swim team. Rebecca is a member of the Wallenpaupack National Honor Society (NHS) and serves on the Executive Council. Rebecca will be attending Shippensburg University in the fall to major in Biology with a minor in Spanish. Taylor Kryzan, daughter of Joseph and Kimberly Kryzan of Lake Ariel, is the June Student of the Month. Taylor has volunteered at the Hawley Food Bank, Special Olympics Skiing, and participated in several community marathons. Taylor a member of the Wallenpaupack Area National Honor Society (NHS) has served on the Executive Council for the past two years. Taylor’s club activities include Volunteers in Paupack (VIP), Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Technology club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Rachel’s Challenge, Foreign Language club and the Environmental club. Taylor is a member of the Varsity Track and Field, Varsity Field Hockey, Varsity Swimming and Varsity Cross Country teams. In addition, she has also participated in engineering and art competitions. After graduation, Taylor will attend Penn State University to major in Aerospace Engineering.
