SALEM TOWNSHIP – State Police at Honesdale have identified a dark blue colored rear bumper that was recovered at the scene in Hamlin just after the attempted theft of an ATM as being from a 1989-1996 Buick Century.
The attempted theft occurred at Joe’s Kwik Mart, 496 Hamlin Highway (Route 590) in Hamlin, early Thursday morning, June 1. The reported time was 3:43 a.m. Once inside, the unknown person or persons wrapped a chain around the ATM machine and tried to rip it out of the front of the store where the had gained entry.
A license plate attached to the vehicle was reported stolen out of Scranton prior to the incident, State Police said. Anyone with information on a 1989-1996 dark blue Buick Century recently missing a bumper is asked to contact State Police at Honesdale at 570-253-7126.
