HAWLEY - Hawley's 50th anniversary Independence Day Parade is set for Tuesday, July 4, at noon in Hawley. The lineup, as of Friday, is included below. Some additions to the lineup are possible.

HAWLEY - Hawley’s 50th anniversary Independence Day Parade is set for Tuesday, July 4, at noon in Hawley. The lineup, as of Friday, is included below. Some additions to the lineup are possible.
The parade starts at Spring Street & Main Avenue, heads up Main to Bingham Park. The parade marshal this year is 10-year old Bobby Fortuna, who is on a waiting list for a kidney transplant.
The parade originated in 1967 when it was sponsored by Hawley Public Library in conjunction with a library lawn social.

Carnival

The annual Hawley Carnival begins at 1 p.m. in the park, on the 4th of July. Immediately following the parade and leading up to the opening of the carnival, Jason Merrill and other local musicians are expected to be performing from the bandstand.
The carnival lasts July 4 through July 8. On Tuesday the 4th, the hours are 1 p.m. to “as long as they have a crowd,” leading up to the time of the fireworks.
On Wednesday through Saturday, the carnival hours are 6 to 10 p.m.
Carnival ticket purchases benefit Hawley Borough Police and Hawley Parks & Recreation Commission.
On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, ride all rides for one price, $14.00.

Fireworks


Fireworks are planned at Lake Wallenpaupack at dusk, hosted by the Chamber of he Northern Poconos. The Chamber has been hosting fireworks at the lake since 1976. They are fired from the High School athletic field. Stadium seating opens at 7 p.m. Bold Gold Media 105.3 FM will broadcast patriotic music during the fireworks. Rain date: July 5th.
