HAWLEY - A representative from Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Rev. Franklin Graham’s Samaritan Purse, will be speaking at New Covenant Fellowship Church, Sunday, July 16 at both Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The public is welcome.

Lynnette Dallmann is the Northeast Pennsylvania Area Strategist for Operation Christmas Child. Every year, the ministry collects many thousands of show boxes across the nation that have been filled with such items as small toys, hygiene items and school supplies, for children, ages 2 to 14. They are distributed in needy areas of nations around the world with the aim of spreading the Gospel and the good cheer a child receives with each box full of blessings.

For several years in November, New Covenant Fellowship Church has been a drop-off point for these shoe boxes that have been filled by other churches, organizations and individuals. These are added to the boxes the New Covenant church have also coordinated. For several months, items for the boxes are accumulated at the church, and on a specific “packing party” day, volunteers fill the boxes. Large cartons of the filled shoe boxes are then taken to a distribution point in Moosic, the first leg of the trip to take them to the children around the world.

Lynnette recently returned from a missions trip to Rwanda to hand out shoe boxes. During her talk she will have a slide presentation.

Marianne Korman, who coordinates Operation Christmas Child at New Covenant Fellowship, welcomes anyone who is interested to learn more about this ministry, to attend. 2017 marks the eighth year the church will serve as a Relay Drop-Off Center.

New Covenant Fellowship Church is located at 32 Columbus Avenue in Hawley.
