LAKE REGION - The tri-county antique dealers association known as WPSADA (Wayne, Pike (PA) & Sullivan County (NY) is celebrating fifty years since it was founded in 1967. A short two years after the group was organized the first annual show and sale was planned, and has continued as a must-go-to event ever since.

The two-day 2017 exhibit will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6. Promising to be better than ever, this year’s show will be held at the Wallenpaupack North Intermediate Complex (a move across Route 6 from the high school necessitated by renovations there).

In fact, numerous WPSADA shows were held at this venue in the late 90’s.  The North complex affords a bright and airy backdrop and is easily found just off Route 6, one mile east of Hawley (turning onto Atlantic Avenue just opposite the Wallenpaupack Area High School).   Show and sale hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Quality dealers from throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic will once again be on hand with an extensive and varied array of merchandise – from art pottery, painting & prints, vintage linens, clothing, and textiles, jewelry, furniture, paper items, scientific instruments, glassware from depression to elegant to art glass, plus brilliant American cut glass!  There is a collecting category for everyone, so whether you are a veteran antiquer or just starting out, this is a great place to shop!  Many dealers return to this exhibit year after year, and set aside special items to be offered.  Jack Dakey and Rosemary Fritz, hailing from northeastern PA and Allentown, for example, always have a number of excellent examples of Dorflinger glass available, along with other pieces of highly desirable cut glass.  Many participants specialize in selected categories, while others offer a  “general” line of wares.  Visitors can also expect to find a well balanced show in terms of offerings, and always something eclectic from dealers like Mimi Gunn, hailing from Morristown, NJ.

In addition to the show itself, several local and county Historical Societies will be on hand to provide information about their respective organizations and events as well as offering reference books and  other materials for sale.  Several of these organizations have benefited from prior shows, including the Wallenpaupack Historical Society, Wayne County Historical Society, and Pike County/The Columns Museum.

There is a nominal admission fee of $6.00 per person – again with proceeds to benefit historical, educational, and preservation efforts and organizations in the tri-state area WPSADA serves.
“There is plenty of free parking, the venue is air conditioned, and good food will be available – so come and make a day of it,” said organizers.

There are also many shops and interesting and historical sites in the greater Hawley/Lake region as well.  Additional information about the 48th Annual WPSADA Antique Show & Sale can be had at www.wpsada.com, on facebook at Antique Dealers of Wayne, Pike, Sullivan Counties or call 570-296-3539.
