HAWLEY - The Country Gardeners invite the community to join them on a bus trip to Fort Tryon Park in NYC on Thursday, October 12. The park is considered the “Crown Jewel” of NYC parks and is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The trip will include a guided tour of The Heather Garden, a four season garden that features one of the largest heather and heath collections in the country. Color and texture are provided by trees and perennials as well as colorful annuals. Situated on a slope 200 feet above the Hudson River there are stunning views of the George Washington Bridge and the river.
Located in the park is The Cloisters, a museum with over 5000 years of antiquity. The Cloisters is not included in our tour but can be visited on your own. Price for Cloisters is $25 for adults and $17 for seniors. Cost for the bus and guided tour is $45.
Lunch is on your own but there are many places to eat in or near the park.
The bus will leave Hawley from the IGA parking area near the Day Care at 7:45 a.m. and will leave Honesdale from near the McDonalds at 8 a.m. Return will leave the park at 4 p.m. For reservations please call Bonnie at 352-408-0310.
