HAWLEY - This year, Hawley Council is hosting a “Trunk or Treat” event on Halloween night in Bingham Park, immediately following the annual parade, Tuesday, October 31.
The idea behind the Trunk or Treat, according to Council, is to offer a safe alternative to door-to-door trick or treating, for those who wish to participate.
Distribution of candy, etc., is done from the trunk of the vehicle. The public is welcome to accurate their vehicles as well, for the occasion. While the event is free, registration is required in order to participate. Contact the Borough Office at 570-226-9545 or stop by the Borough Hall at 94 Main Ave., Hawley, during regular business hours.
As in past years, lineup for the parade is at 5 p.m. on Church Street near Main, next to the Hotel Belvidere. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. and heads up Main Avenue to Bingham Park.
Contact the Borough Office if you would like to have a float or to march in the parade.
Costumed bystanders are welcome to join in the parade and head up to the park.
Judging of costumes and free refreshments follow at the park, hosted by the Borough.
Hawley Police Chief Daniel Drake asked the public to be extra cautious while driving during Halloween, with the many people that are out and about.
