HONESDALE - SEEDS and NaturED are co-hosting the 6th annual Free Book Swap, presented this year by their lead sponsor, the Wayne County Bar Association. The event will be Saturday, November 18 and is at the Wayne County Park Street Complex, 648 Park St. (Route 6), Honesdale.

There are no requirements and no limitations; all books are welcome. The only goal is see every book into a new home. Whether you bring ten, one or none, you have from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to browse the space and fill your arms (bags and boxes) with literary loot.

Do you have “a whole bunch of books” to drop off? Large quantities (50 or more) are encouraged to arrive early. Place the number of books on the outside of each bag or box for quick calculating! The event’s collection and distribution totals are recorded and submitted to the America Recycles Day website for bragging rights. Large quantities can be unloaded on Thurs., Nov.16 from 5 pm -6:30 p.m. and Fri., Nov.17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Free Book Swap invites everyone to participate free of charge and to help themselves to as much as they can read. Community neighbors, organizations, agencies, businesses, groups, artists, and collectors are encouraged to visit the event on Saturday, November 18. Any leftovers will be shipped to Better World Books to support global literacy efforts.

Tens of thousands

Over the past several years, this annual free event, has relocated tens of thousands of books to new homes and families. It is one of the single largest recycling events in our area. Volunteers make this event possible.

They welcome new volunteers to join in the sorting and story-sharing. Interested volunteers may contact Jenna at livingthenaturedlife@gmail.com.

This not-for-profit event is supported by community donations and sponsors to cover shipping expenses, event materials and volunteer hospitality. This year’s Book Sponsor is the Frey-Fetsock Funeral Home.
