HAWLEY - The volunteers running the Other Shop “2” store in Hawley receive much through the year, to help the Wayne Memorial Health System. This Christmas, like in 2016, they gave something back to the community, with a clothesline full of free, colorful scarves hanging in front of the thrift shop.

“It’s just to help the people who can’t afford them. We just want to give something back,” said Judy Maneral, one of the Thursday volunteers. “We get lot of support, donations right and left.”

The Other Shop-II, located at 303 Main Avenue, Suite C, in The Dime Bank building, is operated by the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She said that in 2016 alone, sales at the Hawley store allowed them to donate $26,000 to the Health System. That’s in addition to what the Auxiliary takes in from the original Other Shop, in Honesdale.

Funds were used last year to help pay for the mobile mammography clinic.

Donations of clothing and smaller household items are welcome. Pickup of larger volume donations may be arranged by calling the store. Receipts will be given for tax deductions.

They have all sorts of treasures to look over, such as clothing, small furniture, nick-nacks, toys, kitchen items, jewelry, comforters, craft items, books and other household goods. Maneral said it is all offered at great prices.
Sue Dire is the manager at the Other Shop “2.”
