The Newly Redesigned Newspaper is Here!
This week we unveil a redesigned newspaper that offers a new modern look while delivering the same high-quality, comprehensive local news, sports and features readers expect. We have been working on this redesign for months with our colleagues at GateHouse Media under the direction of award-winning newspaper designer Mario Garcia. With this redesign your newspaper is more colorful, better organized, and presented in a new type and style that’s easier to read. You’ll continue to find stories that inform and engage, make you laugh out loud and get you mad as, well, you get the picture. And speaking of pictures, you’ll see larger ones throughout that will put you in the middle of the action. We are excited about the new look and hope you find a lot to like about it.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will the focus on strong local journalism continue with the redesign?
Yes. The newsroom will remain as focused as ever on providing readers with local stories, features, photography and other content — but presented in a new modern style.
Is the font style or size of the stories changing?
No. This will not change and the generous 10-point font size will maintain the easy-reading experience.
What is the deal with the colorful boxes on the front page?
These items are called cards and they'll be used to promote content inside the newspaper or on our website. They are intended to appear in different places on the page to allow for strong presentation of local news.
Will my content move to another page?
Maybe. Because the changes may require accommodating new content, you may find your favorite content on another page. The index at the bottom of Page 1 will help you find what you're looking for.
Are the photos bigger than before?
Yes. The redesign calls for using a five-column grid where possible. This allows for larger photos to be used.
Why does the paper look brighter?
More white space is being used to clean up the look of the newspaper. The white space helps define each story and improves the reading experience.
