REGION - Troop R Crime Unit , PA State Police, is investigating a Timothy August for passing bad checks at various local hardware stores and Weis Markets in the tri-state area.
August started purchasing chainsaws and leaf blowers in November 2017 using bad checks and he would then turn around and sell the saws and leaf blowers for cash. August hit at least 17 local hardware stores utilizing the bad checks. In December 2017, August started purchasing gift cards at Weis Markets in Lackawanna, Luzerne and Wayne Counties with bad checks. August hit the Weis Market more than 50 times with the bad checks.
August has purchased more than $25,000 in merchandise and gift cards with the bad checks since the beginning of November 2017.
A warrant was issued for Timothy August’s arrest on January 8, 2018 for charges of Corrupt Organizations, Dealing in Proceeds from unlawful activity, receiving stolen property and bad checks. He was last reported to be in the Bethlehem PA area on January 4th. August drives a black, Ford F250 pickup truck with a quad cab and 5th wheel hitch in the bed of the truck – PA registration ZJL1941. He was reported to be staying in his camper at various locations.
